Trephination vs. Trephina(SHEN)

Let me start by saying that I didn't know the meaning of trephination until I watched an old movie this summer. I was guided to watch the 1966 movie Fantastic Voyage in which scientists are shrunken down and injected into a man with a hematoma to relieve the pressure on the man's skull to save his life. I remember seeing this movie as a kid, and I loved re-watching it, but the entire time I was looking for the reason I was guided to watch it. In one of the scenes, a surgeon said something like, "Starting trephination." DING! I immediately googled it! Trephination is one of the oldest surgical procedures known to humanity and refers to a procedure in which a circular piece of bone is drilled and excised, most commonly from the human skull. It has been used to relieve intracranial pressure and headaches, but according to my research is not used much anymore due to complications.

If someone is told they have a "hard head" it can mean they are inflexible, stubborn, overly willful, or obstinate. It can also mean being very practical and shrewd and not being persuaded or influenced by emotions. Were my angels and guides telling me I am HARD HEADED and that I am still trying to protect myself by not feeling my emotions?? Or that I am allowing "pressure" (from life) to interfere with my connection to Consciousness and that getting through to me was as difficult and complicated as trephination? I think so!! My angels know I love a play on words, so to me trephina(SHEN) is a divine term for energetically removing something (like stuck qi) to relieve "pressure" that is interfering with connecting to Shen (Consciousness).

Fortunately, there are many options to relieve any "pressure" that is interfering with connecting to Consciousness, without going under the knife, so to speak. Yoga, massage, qi gong, exercise, spending time in nature, eating better, having energy work done, etc. are all excellent ways to enhance our ABILITY to meditate, quiet the mind, and connect with Shen. Sometimes other interventions are necessary, such as medication or therapy, and that is OK. The hardest part (pun intended) is recognizing the "pressure", getting out of our own way, asking for assistance when necessary, and being open to listening. We are always connected to SHEN, but may not necessarily feel it. When I'm not experiencing that connection, I relieve myself of some pressure by starting trephina(SHEN). Need help? Just ask.
